Everett homeowner Paul Larson says a developer excavated land surrounding his home five years ago to make way for a large subdivision. The work, he says, left behind sinkholes, toppled trees, a ruptured septic tank and waterline.

Instead of spending thousands of dollars to fight the developers in court, he decided to spend a couple hundred dollars on paint to graffiti his own house to make the neighborhood a little less attractive to potential buyers.

If jinxedagain is correct and he is not a member of any homeowner's association then God Bless him for exercising his rights. If the other home owners' experienced everything this man has experienced, maybe they should paint too, it can be fixed with two days of sunshine and fifteen gallons of paint.

I have LOTS to say about this but promise to keep it short. I live in this "neighborhood" and have experienced ALL of the exact same issues. However, you do NOT see me throwing a tantrum like a 2 year old and destroying my home. We've been handling it with the developers who have agreed to correct most of the problems. However in order for things to be fixed we need Graffiti house to also play nice, which they are not. I also know for a fact that 2 other homeowners have also experienced major problems throughout this process, and they haven't destroyed their homes either...This whole thing is ridiculous!

@rtc77 Ha, nice catch. Paul, when you make a sock puppet, remember to use a different user name than one you have easily linked with your real identity.

perilouspaul? As in Perilous Paul Larson? So, you're trolling your own news story? That's just sad. For the record, I AM a developer... a software developer.

Rtc must be a developer. Well he doesn't know the half of it. There are so many variables and unknowns in this story...it would be almost impossible for an intelligent man to make any sort of assumptions as to what is really going on here. I think it was a great idea. I am sure there is more than meets the eye here!

daigawn - You're right! Something should be done about these Meth Lab Developers! (Insert sarcasm mark here) Are you really blaming the state's meth problem on developers? So who built your house? Elves?

I'd not be suprised if there was not more area's like this in the Everett/Lake Stevens area. Developers have been raping natural landscape since I was a kid in the early and mid 90's. They turned what was a serene small town into a giant collection of duplex's. Its sickening. Not to mention the massive increase in meth usage.

Invite all of Tacoma to live in your basement... property values will drop to to toilet in no time...that and he'll get all the free meth he can handle

This story should be under the definition of: Cutting off your own nose to spite your face. Dollars to donuts Paul is totally underwater on his home loans/value, and this is his way of trying to extort the developer into buying him out.

if he doesn't plan on moving, then his home value doesn't make a matter. I'm sure he sleeps just fine at night. If he is not part of the development, their rules don't apply to him and he can paint anything he wants (except, we found out from another homeowner, nipples) on his home.

Well I suppose it's a good idea if you don't care about decreasing your own home value as well as making enemys of the enire neighborhood. The end result is this guy does'nt sleep well at night and and can't enjoy a meal and his stomach churns all day and all night.... What a meat head.... And Whats your Beef ?
