The world famous Harlem Globetrotters, celebrating their 85th season, played in Seattle this weekend and invited KING 5's Christie Johnson to play with them. Christie accepted the challenge and suited up for the Washington Generals, despite her, well let's just say, "lacking" basketball skills.
The team is known for revolutionizing the game of basketball. The club invented the alley-oop, the three-point shot, and this year they are introducing the 4-point shot - a basket worth four points that is shot from a circle 35 feet out - not an easy task, but most of the guys on the team can make it.
Christie was called into the game in the second quarter. They asked her to shoot a four-pointer. She missed. Then they asked her to try a 3-point shot. She missed that one too. Finally, they encouraged her to try a layup, and because they allowed her to stand right under the basket, she managed to get the ball into the net. Way to go Christie, two points!
"Those pranksters were a ton of fun and even though I have NO basketball skills, I had a great time and would love to play with them again," said Christie, rookie for the Washington Generals.
The club left town late Sunday afternoon to continue it's nationwide tour.
