FORT LEWIS, Wash. – Two children who were allegedly taken from their home at Joint Base Lewis-McChord by their father Wednesday morning have been turned over to police in Oregon.
Fort Lewis says Allen Fish, 35, has been arrested by Salem, Ore. police. His sons Reuben, 5, and Dylan, 4, will be returned to their mother later Wednesday.
An AMBER Alert was triggered around 11 a.m., about four hours after police say Allen Fish allegedly took the boys, still in their pajamas, from their home on base.
By 12:15 p.m., police had learned Allen Fish was at an attorney's office in Oregon with the boys and that the children were not in danger.
The boys' mother is a soldier at the base, but Allen Fish is not a soldier. According to Pierce County court records, the mother filed a petition for a protection order against Allen on Tuesday. In the petition, the mother claimed Allen had a history of domestic violence against her.
