The ride-share company Uber says Seattle's proposed regulations will shut down their system.

The Seattle City Council is considering new rules that would license and limit the number of Uber-X cars operating in Seattle to a maximum of 100 vehicles.

"Putting an arbitrary limit on that is going to hurt the business and its going to hurt Seattleites ability to get around town," said Brooke Steger, General Manager of Uber Seattle.

Cab industry representatives say the proposed regulations don't go far enough.

The proposed new rules mirror regulations recently put in place in California.
