As the city mulls the idea of new regulations on ride services like UberX, Lyft and Sidecar, Yellow Cab is unveiling a new app to try and keep up with the market.
The Yellow Cab Seattle app is free for users. Its development was paid for by Puget Sound Dispatch, the call center that routes cab drivers to their fare.
The ride share market has just begun booming in Seattle. Yellow Cab drivers, who have long paid the required licensing fees, say these unregulated services undercut business. Seattle city officials are awaiting an independent study to suggest how to begin controling the market.
