SEATTLE – Thursday morning at 5 a.m. brings a big change for people who travel to and from the eastside as tolling begins on the State Route 520 floating bridge.

Variable tolling will happen every day between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. and how much you pay will depend what time of day you drive. Drivers with a Good to Go! account will have their tolls automatically deducted. For those without an account, a bill for the toll plus a fee will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.

The Washington State Department of Transporatation was hoping to have about 170,000 people signed up for Good to Go! by now, but it only had 129,000 as of last Thursday. Updated numbers were expected Tuesday.

Tolling on SR 520 is expected to raise $1 billion overall toward the $4.65 billion SR 520 bridge replacement and HOV program.
