LAKE SAMMAMISH, Wash. - A 25-year-old man drowned in Lake Sammamish Friday afternoon. He was taken by ambulance to Overlake Hospital but was confirmed dead shortly after.

The man reportedly disappeared around 2:30 p.m. and nobody noticed until at least 45 minutes later. His companions called 911 and he was found by divers around 3:30 p.m., still in the roped-off swimming area at the south end of the lake.

Medics performed CPR on him but were unable to revive him.

Microsoft had rented out part of the private Vasa Park for a picnic in the afternoon but it’s not yet known if the man was a Microsoft employee or which department it was.

More people are expected to be swimming in lakes this weekend. Temperatures hit the 90s Friday and this weekend could bring record high temperatures.
