Construction worker buried in hole rescued

SEATTLE – A construction worker buried up to his waist in a hole for more than 2 hours was pulled out Wednesday evening.

He was trapped in a ditch filled with dirt, concrete and asphalt in West Seattle.

Dozens of firefighters and construction workers were busy around he hole where the man was trapped at 2944 SW Avalon Way.

The accident happened next to a restaurant under renovation called Café Revo.

The Seattle Fire Department says the worker was helping dig a trench around 3:40 p.m. when something happened causing the man to get trapped.

All of that weight ended up on his legs. Trucks were used to pull the debris out.

The victim was conscious and alert the entire time.

The man was not identified Wednesday afternoon and his condition was not immediately known.

Avalon Way was closed between the West Seattle Bridge and Andover Street.
