BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Court documents show that the Ferndale High School track coach whose body was discovered Sunday on Blanchard Mountain was having an affair with a woman in Alger.
Documents from the Skagit County District Court show Jeremy Scully was on his way to do roofing work at her and her husband's home when he went missing last week.
It was at their home Sunday that sheriff's investigators executed a search warrant looking for clues in the murder of Jeremy Scully. Inside they recovered several weapons, ammunition, computers and some marijuana.
The day Scully was supposed to help, the man called his wife from Squires Lake trailhead asking her to come pick him up. That's about a mile and a half down the road from where Scully's car was later found abandoned.
When interviewed by police, the wife admitted she was having an affair with Jeremy Scully. As for her husband, during an interview he alluded to officers that Scully was dead.
That same day, hikers found Scully's body on Blanchard Mountain. He had been shot in the head.
Positively identified
The news comes as family and friends mourn Scully, who was reported missing Friday. Skagit County Sheriff's detectives Wednesday confirmed the body found Sunday in the woods was his.
An FBI special processing center postively matched a fingerprint from the body to Scully's fingerprints on file.
Scully's family issued a statement thanking his friends, students, colleagues and the athletes that he coached for their kind thoughts, saying "Their fond recollections of Jeremy are a great comfort... in this difficult time."
The statement also said they are "grateful for the hard work of members of law enforcement as they strive tirelessly to bring those who harmed Jeremy to justice. "
"I've been numb, to be honest with you, for the last three or four days," said Ferndale track coach Ted Genger.
Genger says in the eight years Scully coached pole vault, the team has really grown.
"It's really crazy and it's just really shocking, just weird," said vaulter Ashley Crape.

As KING 5 first reported Tuesday, investigators are looking at Scully's involvement with an adult sex Web site and his sexual relationships as a possible motive in his murder.
A profile for Scully on Adultfriendfinder.com indicated he was looking for sex with multiple partners.
"I wasn't expecting like a teacher affiliated with that stuff," said Joe De.
"No matter what happened in his personal life, he did not deserve that," said Crape.
Ferndale athletic director Vic Randall says while news of Scully's personal life is troubling, he hopes it doesn't overshadow his public life.
"The most important thing is that what he did here was good work, and the things we're hearing now, that's not the Jeremy Scully that we knew. That's not the person that worked for the Ferndale School District," he said.
On Sunday, Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant at a home near Alger. Deputies seized guns, ammunition, computers and marijuana.
Scully reported missing on Friday
Scully, a 38-year-old substitute teacher and coach was reported missing by school officials Friday, a day after he was last seen by a friend at his apartment. His car was found Saturday with the door ajar and keys in the ignition off Interstate 5 near Lake Samish.
On Sunday afternoon hikers found a body on Blanchard Mountain in the woods about 200 yards off a gravel road to Samish Overlook, a launching area for hang gliders on the 2,225-foot Blanchard Mountain, near the northwest corner of Skagit County.
There was no identification on the body; an autopsy showed the man died of a gunshot wound to the head.
As the medical examiner worked to confirm the identity of the body, the case took a sordid twist.
KING 5 News learned Scully was a member of an adult swinger Web site.
"I knew about the Web site, and I knew that Jeremy did get on the Web site," said Robbin Goldsby, Scully's girlfriend.
"It may turn out to be something that's huge and be the key that unlocks the mystery. And it may be something that doesn't matter at all," said Dep. Chief Will Reichardt, Skagit County Sheriff's Department.
Scully's profile shows he had nearly 30 friends on the site and that he may have been online in the days before he disappeared.
When detectives sealed off Scully's apartment over the weekend, they took his computer into evidence.
"It's certainly something that we're aware of and we're following up and we will follow those leads to wherever they may lead. And that is one of things we're doing right now is talking to the people that he may have been involved with with that Web site and trying to track down, you know, what our victim's last days were about and who he was talking to," said Reichardt.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
