CONCRETE, Wash. - Firefighters from several volunteer fire stations battled a massive blaze at the old Concrete elementary school building in the Skagit County town of Concrete this afternoon.

The fire broke out in the abandoned school on McKee Street at about 2 p.m.

Fire officials said because the building has concrete walls, it was burning extremely hot so firefighters would not be able to go inside for some time.

No injuries were reported.

The building is a total loss.
