EVERETT, Wash. - The driver of a semi tractor-trailer truck died Friday morning when his big rig collided with another semi truck near Everett Mall.

The accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. when the unidentified driver was northbound on Everett Mall way.  As the big rig crossed into the intersection with State Route 526, it slammed into the other semi.

Video from the scene showed the front end of the colliding truck was practically sheared off by the impact.

Police said the driver was ejected from the truck.

"Based upon the debris field out here...it does appear that it was a very dynamic collision," said Sergeant Bob Goetz of the Everett Police Department. "But we also have to consider the weights of the vehicle as well. And so, we don't really know what the speeds are yet and that is something we will attempt to determine later on in the investigation."

The driver of the second truck was not seriously injured.

The wreckage blocked all lanes of eastbound and westbound SR 526 at Everett Mall Way.

An investigation was expected to take several hours.
