Thurston Co. Sheriff's Office

Joshua S. Zwart is a Level 3 sex offender convicted of first-degree child molestation.

SEATTLE – A Level 3 sex offender who had failed to register has been captured thanks to a KING 5 News viewer.

The Thurston County Sheriff's Office says it received a tip from someone who saw the story on KING 5 Wednesday evening about seven sex offenders that deputies were looking for. One of those was Joshua Zwart. The 27-year-old was released from prison last spring after serving a five year sentence for child molestation. As a Level 3 offender, he was considered highly likey to re-offend.

The tip led authorities to Lewis County, where Zwart was arrested. Deputies say Zwart was spitting at them and kicking the patrol car when he was taken into custody.

Zwart had told police prior to his disappearance that he was homeless, and in Thurston County, homeless sex offenders are supposed to check in weekly at the courthouse.

"They only have to come in and report where they've been within the last week. So we're in a real reactive position. It's not ideal, but it's the reality," said Thurston County Sheriff Dan Kimball.

Another missing sex offender, 29-year-old Barney Romero, is now in custody after turning himself in. Deputies say the Level 2 offender gave himself up due to all the media attention.

Five other men are still on the loose and may have left Thurston County. They are:

Dennis T. Doelman, 24, is a Level 2 offender. He is Hispanic, 5-feet 6-inches tall, 195 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Barney S. Romero, left, and Dennis T. Doelman are Level 2 sex offenders.

William David Gibb, 27, is a Level 2 offender. He is 5-feet 8-inchess tall, 155 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Frank H. Perkins, 51, is a Level 1 offender. He is 5-feet 9-inches tall, 219 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Jesse L. Aiken, 27, is a Level 1 offender. He is 5-feet 10-inches tall, 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Tyler McGee, left, is a Level 1 sex offender. William David Gibb is a Level 2 offender.

Tyler G. McGee, 23, is a Level 1 offender. He is 6-feet 3-inches tall, 212 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

"Anybody released from any incarceration should have a home to go to," said Gerald Clerget. He lives next door to where Gibb used to live. He doesn’t think offenders who fail to register or cooperate with police deserve any mercy.

"Evidently, they didn't learn while they were in jail, so they should be put back there," said Clerget.

Frank H. Perkins, left, and Jesse L. Aiken are Level 1 sex offenders.

There are almost 700 registered sex offenders living in Thurston County. Sheriff Kimball says about 20 are considered homeless. He says most do obey the law by checking in with authorities every week.

Anyone with information on these men is asked to call the Thurston County Sheriff's Office at (360) 786-5500 or Crime Stoppers at (360) 493-2222.
