SEATTLE – Wednesday morning, Liam O’Hara stepped outside his home in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood and found his dog shot through the chest with an arrow.

Now Animal Control is trying to find the person responsible.

O’Hara showed us where the arrows hit the house and the dog door, which Animal Control removed for evidence.

One of the three-prong razor arrows went right into the chest of his mastiff Conan.

"He was in back here. He had wedged his way through the gate and the arrow was bent over and he was lying in the back yard,” he said.

O’Hara and his family have had the dog for seven years. They say he’s a big but lovable animal who barks. And even though he occasionally escapes the yard, he says they have never had any complaints from neighbors.

Whoever shot the arrows had to do it over a 6-foot fence.

"They came at a downward angle and to get it in the alley area, you had to have a vantage point of being standing on top of something,” said O’Hara.

Conan made it through surgery, but he later died.

Now O’Hara worries about the safety of his other dog and his two young children. He handed out flyers to make other aware.

Conan was badly injured when someone shot him with an arrow.

"I want people to know what happened and whoever did it can see what they did,” he said.

This was not only a painful injury for the family and the dog, but an expensive one as well. The owners were told the surgery could run from $4,000 to $8,000.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Seattle Animal Control.

Also, the veterinarian agreed to take donations on behalf of the family to pay for the surgery. If you want to help, contact the Lynnwood Animal Clinic at 20115 44th Avene W., Lynnwood, Wash.

Reward offered

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2,500 reward for information resulting in the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the shooting.

If you have information you are asked to call (206)386-4288.
