Gruesome details released in murders of Fort Lewis couple
10:59 AM PST on Tuesday, March 4, 2008
PARKLAND, Wash. – Police documents released Monday revealed gruesome details of the murders of a married Fort Lewis couple and the kidnapping of their 6-month-old daughter, allegedly carried out by a jilted lover who was also a fellow soldier.
Pierce County deputies believe the 22-year-old female active duty soldier - Spc. Ivette Gonzalez Davila - shot the husband and wife - Timothy Miller, 27, and Randi Miller, 25 - both medics at Madigan Army Medical Center, sometime Saturday.
According to probable cause documents, Davila was upset that her ex-boyfriend left her to enter into a relationship with Randi Miller. Timothy Miller was apparently unaware of his wife's other relationship.
The documents say Davila shot the Randi twice while she was in bed, then shot Timothy several times in the shower. She then took the child with her to Home Depot, where she purchased muratic acid.
Detectives say Davila returned to the home, put the bodies in the bathtub and poured the acid on them.
Later, when another soldier on the base confronted the suspect about why she had the baby with her, detectives say she first claimed to be babysitting, but then confessed to killing the parents.

Military officials at Fort Lewis contacted sheriff's deputies as soon as they learned of the murders. Acting on that information, deputies went to the couple's home in Parkland next to Highway 512 Sunday and found the bodies.
Detectives say baby did not witness the crime. She was turned over unharmed to Child Protective Services. Detectives are also interviewing the ex-boyfriend.
Pierce County Sheriff's deputies worked throughout Sunday night, searching the dead couple's home and executing search warrants both on and off post at Fort Lewis.
Neighbors were shocked to learn about the murders.
"They seemed like nice people," said James Black, neighbor. "(I'm) real shocked that someone could do that."
"It's kind of scary thinking somebody could come on over and kill two people right across the street," said Darlene Whitbeck, neighbor. "It scares the thunder out of me."
"I talked to them all the time because they go to work early in the morning together," said LaToya Adams, neighbor. "I see them jogging. They seemed happy."
Davila was ordered held without bond for investigation of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping. A probable cause hearing is set for Wednesday.
