SEATTLE - Police say three men walking on a downtown Seattle street have been shot by a man who stepped out of an alley.

Police say it happened about 2:30 Friday morning in the Pioneer Square area, on James Street near Second Avenue.

"We had three males that were right in the midblock here on James Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. Someone came from the alley and fired numerous shots at these three adult males. All three males were struck," said Assistant Chief Nick Metz of the Seattle Police.

The victims, all in their 20s and 30s, have been taken to Harborview Medical Center. Two have life-threatening wounds.

Metz says homicide and gang detectives are looking for the gunman and interviewing people who may have knowledge about the crime.

"We do have some pretty good leads, so we are following up on that," Metz said. "It is potential that it is gang-related."
