Amazon announces first Fire tablet with Alexa

SEATTLE - Amazon Thursday announced the first tablet with Alexa voice assistance.

The $89.99 Fire HD 8 offers faster performance with 50% more RAM and double the storage, according to an Amazon release. The tablet will allow users to add up to 200 GB more storage via an optional microSD expansion card.

Alexa, the voice assistant behind Amazon's popular Echo speaker, allows users to listen to music, request information, or play game, all using their voice.

Amazon says they will make Alexa available to certain other tablet models in a future release.

The Fire HD 8 will available in four colors and ships September 21. Preorders begin now.
