SEATTLE -- King County Sheriff John Urquhart has fired Darrion Holiwell, an elite member of the King County SWAT team who was arrested June 19 and subsequently charged with three felonies, including promoting prostitution, theft, and drug dealing.
Darrion Holiwell violated his oath, the trust of his fellow deputies, and the trust of the citizens of King County, Urquhart said in a statement. He does not deserve to be a police officer.
The 49-year-old Holiwell had been with the King County Sheriff s Office for 19 years and was also the lead firearms instructor for the sheriff's office.
Authorities said Holiwell knowingly advanced and profited from the prostitution of his wife last year.
Holiwell is also accused of taking brass from county gun ranges and selling it to private gun shops.
Holiwell was put on administrative leave in April.
Urquhart said the criminal investigation is continuing and more people could face charges.
Since elected Sheriff in November of 2012, Urquhart has fired at least four deputies for alleged misconduct and fired several others who were on probation.
