An Issaquah homeowner shot someone who tried to break into his home on NW Montreaux Drive Friday afternoon.

According to Issaquah Police Deputy Chief Steve Cozart, the homeowner heard a knock at his door around 1 p.m. Since he was home ill, he didn't answer the door.

A few minutes later, Cozart said the homeowner heard broken glass. Armed with a handgun, the homeowner went to investigate and confronted the burglar.

A struggle ensued and ended with the homeowner shooting his handgun twice. The intruder was hit in the upper left chest.

The homeowner was shaken up, but was otherwise fine. He was not hospitalized.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. His condition was unknown.
