TACOMA, Wash. -- The memorial service for Margaret Anderson, a park ranger with the Mt. Rainier National Park, will be held on Tuesday.
The service will be at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland and is open to the public and begins at 1 p.m.
Anderson was shot on New Year's Day inside the park as she and a colleague tried to stop a car that had run through a safety check roadblock. The shooter, 24-year-old Benjamin Colton Barnes, fled into the park. Barnes was found dead in the park on Monday morning.
Flags are flying at half-staff in Pierce county in honor of Anderson. There is also a candlelight vigil on Sunday in Eatonville.
