SEATTLE -- Seattle Mayor Ed Murray has instructed Seattle police to stand down and not arrest a disabled Vietnam veteran, who was evicted from his West Seattle home last Friday and returned to the house a few minutes later.

We are attempting to understand all options that may exist in this situation and I have asked Chief O'Toole and the Seattle Police Department to stand by while the latest court proceedings unwind, said Murray.

In the family home on Monday, Byron and Jean Barton said they are prepared to chain themselves to their bed.

This is not just a house. This has been in our family for three generations, said Jean Barton.

Referring to the foreclosure and purchase of the home by Triangle Property Development LLC, Byron said, They stole our house. I'm not moving.
