A new study by real estate brokerage Movoto crowns Seattle as the hardest-working city in the United States.

The company devised its list by looking at seven criteria for the country's 50 most populous cities and ranking them, then taking the average score of all the criteria. The city with the lowest score across all criteria was declared the winner.

Each city was ranked using these criteria:

  • Average hours worked per week
  • Unemployment rate
  • Commute time
  • Employed workers per household
  • Hours volunteered per year
  • Lack of sleep
  • Cost of living
