The number people surviving cancer in the U.S. will top 18 million by 2022. That's an increase of 31 percent from last year, according to the American Association for Cancer Research.

Experts say the bump will mostly be due to the aging population. Two-thirds of survivors will be over the age of 65. Breast cancer accounts for 22 percent of survivors, while lung cancer comprises only 3 percent of the total.
