You can already do it with beer. Now Oregon lawmakers may allow restaurants and stores to fill growlers with wine.

It's a practice already allowed at wineries. The proposed bill would allow customers to bring a secure container to a restaurant or store, fill it with wine and take it home.

Supporters say it will save customers money and cut down on waste.

You don t have the responsibility of recycling cardboard and glass, said Harry Peterson-Nedry, founder of Chehalem Winery in Newberg, Oregon. What you got is a single keg that is totally reusable and comes back for us for refill.

What will constitute a growler? The bill specifies it has to be covered and can't hold more than two gallons.
