It was really exciting to see Argo take home the Oscar for Best Picture, and well deserved for director Ben Affleck. The movie is about six American diplomats who were rescued out of Tehran under the pretense of filming a fake science-fiction movie, marking a little known chapter in the Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979.

The escape itself sounds like something only Hollywood could dream up, but it was very real for those who lived it, including a couple from Anacortes who were two of the rescued six. Mark Lijek shares his story, his opinion of the movie, and life since this amazing ordeal.
