Flood warnings have been issued in some areas as another weather system takes aim at Western Washington.

Rain was diminishing over the Puget Sound area on Tuesday evening, but satellite images show more moisture streaming toward Washington, KING 5 Meteorologist Jeff Renner said.

Rainfall is likely to increase overnight into Wednesday morning, said Renner.

Renner predicts 1 to 3 inches of rain over the Puget Sound basin (the heavier amounts likely to extend from Everett south), 2 to 4 inches along or near the coast and 3 to 6 inches on the west slopes of the Cascades and Olympics.

Highs will remain in the 50s to near 60 degreees.

Flood Warnings are posted for the Skokomish River near Potlatch in Mason county, and the Grays River near Rosburg in Wahkiakum county until late Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has also posted Flood Watches for Skagit, Whatcom, King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties in western Washington as well as the south Washington coast.

There could be some general river flooding, but that is expected to be minor. There is also a threat of urban flooding, especially in areas where storm drains are clogged by leaves.

Rainfall of 2 inches or more is expected on the east side of the Cascades and a watch for stream flooding is in effect for portions of Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties. Forecasters say the rain could cause mudslides and debris flows in the areas burned by summer wildfires.

Rains may ease by Wednesday night but forecasters expect a chance of rain for Halloween trick-or-treating.

By Thursday the front moves east for decreasing showers and maybe a few sunbreaks.

Friday should become partly sunny, but the rain moves back in again this weekend. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s through the week.
