As KING 5 Sports first reported, University of Washington quarterback Nick Montana is transferring.

Montana, son of Hall of Fame 49ers quarterback Joe Montana, arrived at Washington from Oaks Christian in Southern California.

Montana just completed his redshirt freshman season. He made one start against Oregon State replacing an injured Keith Price. Montana was 11 of 21 for 79 yards and two touchdowns in a Husky loss. In six career games, he threw three touchdowns and had two interceptions.

Montana was stuck behind Keith Price on the depth chart, and Washington has two new quarterbacks coming in 2012, Jeff Lindquist from Mercer Island, and Cyler Miles out of Denver.

Early contenders for Montana's services are El Camino College in California, and Blinn Junior College in Texas. In 2009, Cam Newton quarterbacked Blinn to the NJCAA National Championship before transferring to Auburn.
