SEATTLE -- A pod of orcas were spotted swimming in Seattle's Elliott Bay Friday morning.

Residents in West Seattle reported seeing the orcas off Alki Beach around 9 a.m. Some riders on the West Seattle Water Taxi said they spotted the orcas a few minutes later, according to the West Seattle Blog.

Several people reported the pod headed south toward Fauntleroy ferry. SkyKINGlater captured video of the orcas swimming near Maury Island.

A spokesperson with the Center for Whale Research said more than 20 orcas were in the pod and identified them as transient and not orcas that live in the Puget Sound year-round.
