CAMANO HEAD, Wash. - Authorities say a man was killed and four people were rescued from the Puget Sound near Camano Head after a small boat overturned on Saturday morning.

A distress call went out at about 7:30 a.m.

A family member says all five were from one family.

They were out shrimping, there was a lot of other boats in the vicinity, said Rob Johnson, Deputy Chief, Snohomish Fire District

Four adults were rescued by Good Samaritans, who began treatment for hypothermia. One man was transported to Tulalip Marina, where local emergency medical teams pronounced him dead, the Coast Guard said.

A Coast Guard rescue swimmer rescued a 13-year-old boy from under the boat. The boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

They were not wearing life jackets, said Johnson.

Witnesses say the boat was thrown off by waves from other vessels nearby.
