The Grammy Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir has performed with a who's who of music legends, including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and U2. But their biggest inspiration was Nelson Mandela, the beloved former South African president who passed away in December. The group pays tribute to Mandela in their new album, Divine Decade, and have even dedicated their current world tour to the man affecionately known as Madiba. The Soweto Gospel Choir performed This Little Light of Mine for our studio audience today.

Founding members Sipokazi ( SK ) Nxumalo and Shimmy Jiyane, who is also the choreographer and choir master, then joined guest host Kim Holcomb, in for Margaret Larson, after the performance to talk more about the tour and the Choir's 10th Anniversary album.

The Choir will perform this Saturday, April 12th at Meany Hall at the University of Washington at 2pm and 8pm. For tickets click HERE.
