SEATTLE - It is a holiday weekend that will see 140 million shoppers, according to the National Retail Federation. Small businesses hope some of that cash will come their way on Saturday.

In Seattle's Ballard neighborhood bright lights are part of the plan to draw in more customers.

Merchants, property owners, and the Ballard Chamber of Commerce have been working together to get holiday lights up near Market Street and Ballard Avenue. Ballard was also awarded a $25,000 Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant that will leverage private dollars and help ensure that holiday lighting in Ballard will be a tradition for years to come, according to Mike Stewart, Ballard Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

From 2:00 - 6:30 p.m. Saturday, there will be events near Ballard Avenue and 22nd Avenue NW that will include music and a tree lighting ceremony. Several shops in the area plan to open by 10 a.m.
