Friday night's lightning storm sparked dozens of new fires. Kittitas County Fire District No. 7 reported 20,000+ lightning strikes and 60+ fire starts in a 24-hour period.

One of the largest fires started near the existing Colockum Tarps Fire.

The Department of Natural Resources says the Milepost 10 fire was burning 10 miles southeast of Wenatchee. The fire covered 5,000 acres by Saturday evening and a type 2 team was ordered.

The Wenatchee World reports that four homes along Kingsbury Road were served with Level 2 evacuation notices.

Heavy smoke was visible in Wenatchee.

The 80,000-acre Colockum Tarps Fire is 95 percent contained.

The danger of new fires remains, with more lightning in the forecast and flash flood watches in effect in Chelan and Okanogan counties.

Red flag warnings remain in effect until Sunday for the Cascades and eastern Olympic mountains, as well as the central, south and east Puget Sound lowland and the southwest interior lowlands.
