Seattle residents and visitors will be able to take a trip down memory lane this week as the 37th Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival kicks off.
The free annual maritime festival, open Thursday through Sunday, features hands-on exhibits of classic sail, steam, diesel, gas, electric and human-powered wood boats of all sizes. There are also free boat rides, toy boat building for the kids and maritime skills demonstrations.
The festival runs daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, the food and beer garden will be open into the evening as crowds gather for the fireworks festivities.
Many of the larger historic boats -- Adventuress, Zodiac, and Virginia V -- will be conducing paid cruises during the festival. Details can be found at each vessel dockside or on their individual websites.
