A Lufthansa flight was diverted to Sea-Tac Airport on Thursday after the captain was alertedto an electrical smell detected on board.

Flight 459, an Airbus A340-600 carrying 323 passengers, departed San Francisco Thursday night for Munich, but landed without incident at Sea-Tac Airport at 11:30 p.m.

Medical Crews from the Port of Seattle Fire Department treated four people, three crew members and one passenger, on scene for minor irritation.

Maintenance crews continue to investigate the source of the smell and if the aircraft is safe to continue the flight to Munich.

The passengers are staying at local hotels while maintenance crews assess the aircraft.

Nils Haupt, head of corporate communications for Lufthansa in the Americas said the passengers are being booked onto other flights Friday.
