Volunteers from northwest-based Medical Teams International are on the ground all over the world, caring for the sick and injured.
Some MTI volunteers have been in Haiti since before a massive earthquake devastated parts of southern Haiti two years ago.
Among those medical workers is Dr. June Hanks, who heads up MTI's Haiti Advantage Program. Her expertise lies in helping people with disabling conditions, including those who have lost limbs. Dr Hanks and Seattle-area physical therapist/MTI volunteer Brian Power joined New Day to share more about the life-saving work being done by volunteers here in the Northwest and around the world.
Dr. Hanks will be a featured speaker at a special Focus on Haiti exhibit at Medical Teams International's REAL. LIFE. Exhibit in Redmond. The event takes place Wednesday, July 25th from 6 to 7:30 in the evening. Click here for more information about the REAL. LIFE. Exhibit.
MTI will also be part of The Global Health Experience Exhibit in the Next 50 Plaza on Seattle Center grounds during the months of July and August. The exhibit will include information, resources and activities from more than 30 global health organizations in Washington state. On July 21, MTI will also offer families the chance to help create health kits to send around the world.
