Seattle-area author Ingrid Ricks joined Margaret to talk about the inspiration for her self-published memoir HIPPIE BOY: A GIRL'S STORY, which was picked up by major publisher Penguin USA, and is a New York Times bestseller. She also shared her battle against retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease, which she's chronicling in her blog Determined to See, as well as her work with student writers at Scriber Lake High School, who have written two books of essays detailing their own challenges (WE ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY, YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG).
