NASA is offering to pay you $18,000 if you are willing to lie in bed for 70 days straight.

Let s be clear on this. You can t get up at all.

Forbes reports NASA is doing this to test the potential effects on astronauts before they go to Mars. One of the problems of living in a weightless environment is atrophy of muscle and bone because they aren t being used that much.

After the 70 days, volunteers will go through a series of exercises, including simulating activities astronauts would do once they land on the moon.

NASA says you can still make phone calls, text, check your Facebook, play video games or work during the study. They even have a way for you to take a shower or go to the bathroom. You just have to do it all lying down, 24-hours-a-day for 10 straight weeks.

There is a catch (isn t there always?) Joe Average couch potato with a beer belly isn t going to make the cut. You have to pass what is called a Modified Air Force Class III physical, which is rather rigorous. There are also psychological tests to determine if you can handle 70 days in bed.

Here s catch No. 2. In addition to the 70 days, there is an additional five weeks for pre- and post-testing. The total comes out to 105 days.
