Seattle police say an armed and dangerous convenience store robber pistol whipped a clerk at a 7-Eleven Tuesday morning and is still on the loose.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Sandpoint Way NE near Magnuson Park.

Police say a man wearing a mask walked into the store and pointed a gun at the clerk. The robber took some cash and other items, then hit the clerk on the head before running off.

The robber dropped some evidence as he ran away.

The store manager said the clerk had to get stitches but should be OK.

Police have only a vague description of the robber. He s black and wore a black mask. Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Seattle police.

Traffic was impacted around the scene during the investigation.
