Former Washington Huskies and Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens was arrested again in Florida Wednesday for violation of his probation. The violation was due to his highly publicized arrest in Kirkland two weeks ago for an incident involving his new wife, U.S. soccer star Hope Solo.
Stevens was arrested at his home at 10:00 a.m. and booked at 11:05 a.m Wednesday. According to booking information on the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office website, he was on probation for marijuana possession.
AFlorida Department of Corrections spokesperson said Stevens' probation allowed him to be in Washington state as long as he did not get arrested. Although he was not charged in the alleged domestic violence incident on Nov. 13, simply being arrested constituted a violation of his Florida probation.
A Kirkland judge determined there wasn't enough evidence to hold Stevens, but the matter remained under investigation.
Stevens and Solo were married later that same day.
Solo, who will play in an exhibition match against Ireland in Portland Wednesday, told the Associated Press that the incident was overblown.
It's unfortunate what the media can do to judge before the facts are out there. It's hard to see, but it's a hard truth, and it's part of life, she said. I'm happy. I'm happily married. I would never stand for domestic violence. I've never been hit in my life.
Stevens has had several run-ins with the law dating back to his days at Washington.
