A Bremerton Police officer opened fire during a traffic stop Thursday morning.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the Erlands Point Area, said Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff s Office.

The officer was conducting a traffic stop when, for some reason, the situation escalated and the officer fired on the suspect.

Nobody was hurt and the suspect is in custody.

It s not immediately known what happened that made the officer feel compelled to fire.

The Kitsap County Sheriff s Office is investigating the shooting. It s typical for officers to be placed on paid administrative leave during such investigations.
