SEATTLE -- The newly crowned Miss Seattle is barely into her reign and already she's said she's sorry. The controversy is over what she posted on Twitter three months ago.

Jean-Sun Hannah Ahn is a pageant veteran. The former Miss Phoenix graduated from Arizona State University and returned home to compete for the title of Miss Seattle. But back in December, before was awarded the crown Saturday night, Ahn said something about Seattle on Twitter.

In a tweet last December, Ahn said she was hating Seattle right now, and called the people who live here, annoying.

But Monday, Miss Seattle admitted she misspoke.

My heart just dropped, she said. I had a big cry and called some friends. Ijust didn't know what to do.

That day the weather was very cold, rainy, I mean, what can you expect? It is Seattle. It was, like I said, wrong place, wrong time. I just did not think before I acted,

And what about those annoying people in Seattle?

I did not mean directly the people in Seattle, Ahn said. I think I just meant the people in general. I mean, who isn't annoyed by annoying people?

Barely two days into her reign, Ahn says she's learned a valuable lesson. On Twitter Monday, after appearing on KIRORadio's Dori Monson Show, she apologized for her negative connotations regarding Seattle and its people.

So beautiful, the summers are to die for, Ahn said. I really do love Seattle, it was just that particular day it happened to be that I tweeted that unfortunate tweet and it fell into the wrong hands.

The new Miss Seattle now goes on to the Miss Washington Pageant this summer.
