OLYMPIA, WA. -- Firefighters jumped into Chambers Lake in Lacey Wednesday to rescue a dog.

Kodiak and his owner were walking near 29th Avenue and Lakeview Drive when Kodiak ran out onto the ice to chase a duck.

Firefighters say the ice was unstable and Kodiakfell through.

Firefighters used new ice rescue equipment along with a neighbor'sbath tubto get the dog back to shore safely.

Lacey Fire District #3 recently trainedfor ice rescues and thiswas the first opportunity to use the skills they learned.

Kodiak is doing well and back with his owner.
