TACOMA -- Snow-covered roads caused a Pierce County Transit bus to slide down a steep hill Monday before noon, nearly toppling over a railing.
The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on the University of Washington Tacoma campus. The bus driver was attempting to make a left on Jefferson Avenue from 19th Street.
A KING 5 viewer said the bus barely missed the science building. One witness said it looked like the driver attempted to break, but wasn't able to stop sliding.
The bus hit a barrier and continued to slide along it, nearly going off the street.
Twenty passengers were on board the bus at the time. Officials said 10 passengers were injured in the crash. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
UWTacoma suspended operations at 12:30 p.m. Monday due to inclement weather.
