Video: Eastside cheerleader critically injured in car accident

REDMOND, Wash. - Jessie Follett is in a coma after suffering head injuries in an accident.

The Redmond High School sophomore and cheerleader suffered head injuries when the car she was driving on Sahalee Way NE drifted over the center line and struck the front corner of a school bus. There were no students on the bus.

Jessie was rushed to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

Follett is a member of a local dance team that recently won a national championship and a club all-star cheer team that went to the World Championships in Orlando last year.

Her coach tells KING5 the teen is "an amazing young girl with a heart of gold" and was a coach and mentor to many of the younger members of the team.

Her all-star cheer team has decided not to compete as scheduled this weekend in Vancouver B.C., its last chance to receive another bid to the World Championships.

"I don't want to step out on that floor without Jessie standing next to me and I don't think I could do it and neither could my team," said Brittany Hecker.

They will send their junior team to the competition in Vancouver B.C. this weekend.
