SEATTLE -- After a year of work, Valley Street re-opened between Fairview Avenue North and Westlake Avenue North Friday, along with Broad Street westbound between Westlake Avenue North and Ninth Avenue North, and Nine Avenue North between Mercer and Roy.

The Seattle Department of Transportation calls it a major milestone that marks the end of roadway closures associated with the East Phase of the Mercer Corridor Project.

Some drivers aren't convinced.

Nah it doesn't really mean much, it's just changing the roads that are blocked off, it doesn't really improve anything per say, said driver Ozzy Wiese. It just, the mess is going to the right as opposed to the left, its a pretty tough deal.

SDOTsays crews will begin putting the final touches on all three roadways at 6 a.m. on Friday. All three should be back open by early evening on Friday.
