It's an oasis for some of the world's greatest female minds. Novelists, playwrights and activists from all over the world have traveled to Hedgebrook Retreat over the past 25 years, including Gloria Steinem, who also serves on the Hedgebrook's creative advisory board.

Hedgebrook is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a book: HEDGEBROOK COOKBOOK: CELEBRATING RADICAL HOSPITALITY. The book weaves stories from celebrated guests with recipes for dishes made using crops from the retreat's own garden, as well as neighborhing farms.

Hedgebrook's Director and Alumnus Amy Wheeler joined Margaret to talk about the retreat's storied history, along with Dr. Nassim Assefi, a specialist in global women's health, activist and Director of Stage Content for TEDMED, who spent time at Hedgebrook to work on her first novel, ARIA, which was published by Harcourt in 2007. Her newest novel, SAY I AM YOU, is slated for publishing soon.

HEDGEBROOK COOKBOOK: CELEBRATING RADICAL HOSPITALITY is published by She Writes Press, an independent publisher dedicated to celebrating women's voices in print.
