If children came with four wheels and a growling 8-cylinder engine, they would be Gary Tucci s babies. Two gorgeous vintage cars that he said are almost like (his) kids have been stolen.

I talk to them, get to know them, Tucci said of his cars. They have personalities.

A pristine 1965 Corvette Stingray Fastback and an all-original 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS, each valued at about $150,000, vanished from their parking spots in Tucci's Puyallup warehouse sometime Wednesday night.

This is my hole in the wall to come at night get away from things, he said. I work on them. I drive them all the time.

Tucci said he loves the cars right down to their points and plugs and treats them like family. It breaks my heart, he said of the theft.

Exactly how the thieves gained access to his secured storage facility is curious, to say the least. Tucci said a neighbor admitted to accidentally crashing his truck into the wall of the building and creating a hole. That neighbor reportedly left the scene and insists someone else climbed through the hole and took the cars.

Once inside, the burglars found the key box and simply started the cars up and drove them out the garage door.

It's weird. That's all I can say, said Tucci.

A $6,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to charges against those responsible. Anyone with information should contact Pierce County Crimestoppers at 253-591-5959.'s Travis Pittman contributed.
