GRESHAM, Ore -- A man traveling from Gresham was found safe in Seattle Wednesday after he was reported missing.

Police said they received several valuable tipsfrom people who had recent contact with 76-year-old Gary Gochnour thanks to media coverage.

Gochnour, who suffers from dementia, was originally supposed to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21, but had not been heard from since leaving Gresham on Feb. 19. He contacted his family in Seattle around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It is not known exactly where he was for the past two weeks, but his family was relieved to hear from him.

According to one witness, Gochnour appears to have been in Seattle for several days with a U-Haul truck looking for a home to rent.

Gochnour was reportedly planning to move to Seattle to live with his sister.
