The Cleveland Browns requested permission to interview Seahawks defensive coordination Dan Quinn, according to ESPN. Quinn can interview Jan. 5.

The Browns fired head coach Rob Chudzinski after only one year on the job. Cleveland went 4-12 in 2013 and ended the season with seven losses.

There are currently six NFL teams looking for head coaches: Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Minnesota, Tampa Bay and Washington.

The Seahawks hired Quinn to take over the defensive coordinator in January 2013. He had previously been with the team in 2009 and 2010 as the defensive line coach. He left a job at Florida to return to Seattle.

Seattle's defense was dominant this year and finished the season leading the NFL in points allowed per game (14.4), total yards allowed (273.6), yards passing allowed (172.0), interceptions (28) and turnover margin (plus 20).
