SPOKANE, Wash. -- A line of severe thunderstorms swept through the Inland Northwest Sunday night, causing widespread power outages and a few downed power lines from fallen trees.
As of 11 p.m. Sunday Avista reported 12,647customers without power across the region, with most outages in Chewelah, Colville, Davenport, North Central Spokane and the West Plains of Spokane County.
Inland Power and Light reported 1,800 customers without power in Cheney.
Witnesses reported a few transformers exploded in Moses Lake and many trees are reported down around Lake Roosevelt.
A large tree fell and blocked the road at the intersection of 13th and King in Airway Heights for about 90 minutes until crews cleared it around 10:30 p.m.
Spokane County fire dispatchers were too busy to discuss all of the calls they received Sunday night to downed trees and power lines.
