April 22nd is Earth Day, a worldwide holiday held to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

According to a 2010 report, the Environmental Protection Agency says only about 34 percent of waste in the United States is recycled or composted each year. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the average is much higher with some municipalities averaging nearly 70 percent.
